CNLP Day
Register Today for CNLP Day 2021!We will hold our annual CNLP Day on Friday, September 24, 2021. Hosted by: Region 3 Where: Opus 40, 356 George Sickle Road, Saugerties, NY 12477 Created over 37 years by pioneering artist and professor Harvey Fite, Opus 40 is a world-famous nonprofit sculpture park and museum with more than 60 acres of meadows, forested paths and bluestone quarries — including 6.5 acres of earthwork sculpture — in the heart of the Hudson Valley in Saugerties, NY. Fite hand-sculpted Opus 40 over nearly four decades, entirely from bluestone harvested on site, fusing the legacy of local quarrying and ancient Mayan and Aztec stonework learned through his international travels. He framed his stonework sculpture with the surrounding woods, grasslands and mountains, ensuring the natural wonders of the local ecosystem would always be central to the impact of this Natural Historic Registered site. Considered by many to be the Stonehenge of North America, Opus 40 is a sculptural tour de force, a showcase of natural beauty, an exploration of local history, and a premier outdoor performance venue, with Rolling Stone describing it as “the best outdoor performance venue in the Northeast.” It’s through this kaleidoscopic lens that one truly glimpses the miraculousness of Opus 40; abandoned quarries are living artwork, quarrying tools are reassembled into sculpture in the Quarryman’s Museum, and actors and musicians perform in, on, around and through the park, adapting their performance to the terrain, views and acoustics of the site. Itinerary: 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Tour and exploring of Opus 40; followed by dinner and conversation as the Partition in Saugerties. Cost: $35.00/person REGISTER TODAY! |
